Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
